Hi Everyone!

Let’s talk family adventures today!

I'd love to share some activities we did for the past two weekends with our family! I don't receive any compensation for recommending these places; they were all a great hit with my crew of various ages.

Roller skating at Cal Skate in Rohnert Park!

It's something I enjoyed doing as a child, so I was excited to introduce it to our kids!

Saturday has open skate from 12 pm-10 pm. We generally go a bit later in the day, so it's not very busy.

Prepare extra funds for all the arcade games they have! There's some food available; we tried only drinks and fries. There are a variety of restaurants nearby.

Our favorite is Turmeric Cuisine of India (a 7-minute drive in Rohnert Park itself). Yes, everyone eats butter chicken in the family, and I count it as a parenting win!

How do you know we had a good time? I literally have two videos and one photo:))

Muir Woods hiking and sunset!

Can you believe me if I say that yesterday was the first time we did the full loop? Every time we get inside the gate, the kids immediately get hungry or tired. And you can't eat snacks on the trail. So it starts with the food at the tables next to the gift shop. Beware of the gift shop, stuffies are too cute.

But we did it! Full long loop! You can take the junior ranger book and do the activities, too! Funny part is, that after some time, everyone actually enjoys spotting fish or banana slugs, and checking those tall redwoods. Parking reservations are always required.

Sunset spots nearby:

We went to a new location for me in Marin Headlands. (If you want to be my model there, please let me know; a discount applies.)

Captain Kirk's Sailing

We took the boat trip with our friends for a sunset sail around the bay. I was taking pictures of the seals from the deck, so Utkarsh got seats with the kids, and I got a single spot in the back of the boat. No complaints here, this mama really enjoyed her opportunity to take photos. It was 10 of us, but the boat can handle up to 20 people. What I liked was how kid-friendly Captain Kirk and his team were. And believe me, that's one of the factors we'll consider if we come back. Each kid got a turn to drive the boat. Well, almost every kid. Rumi fell asleep, then grew very sad when she had to wake up at the end of the trip. Next time, she's going first.

Anadel State Park

A great loop with a view of the lake and a table to eat your lunch! We got sandwiches on the way from Kelly's sandwiches and Drinks. Great for winter, so it's not too hot.

Marine Mammal Center

They have lots of rescue animals Feb-April! We had a guided tour, which was really interesting. You can get discounted tickets for it through your library. Self-guided tours are free but require a reservation. It has a couple of picnic tables and plenty of parking. You can make a day of it and pair it with Rodeo Beach, or hike around the headlands!

Please drop me a line if you’ve been to any of those spots, or if you have your favorite ones!

Big hugs,

Olga
